Tygh Valley, Oregon : ウィキペディア英語版 | Tygh Valley, Oregon
Tygh Valley is a census-designated place (CDP) and unincorporated community in Wasco County, Oregon, United States. The population was 224 at the 2000 census. ==History== Tygh Valley is considered by some to be the beginning of the Barlow Road because many wagon trains crossed the Deschutes River at Sherars Bridge and proceeded west bypassing The Dalles. However, the National Park Service treats the first tollgate site at Gate Creek on the White River as the beginning of the Barlow Road.〔(Barlow Road - Whitman Mission National Historic Site )〕 The first permanent settlers in Tygh Valley is somewhat debatable but records show Daniel Webster Butler established a trading store in 1856 shortly after the Yakima Indian war of 1855-56. Edward Chambreau (taken from his hand-written autobiography) also move to Tygh Valley in 1856.The first postoffice was established in 1873.
